When you just look at these sesame balls, you may be tempted to think they're Benne balls. But they're NOT !
This is Buchi ! It only has the sesame seeds on the outside; whereas in Tobagonian benne balls, Sesame is the main ingredient besides sugar !
Buchi is mainly made of glutinous rice flour with some filling inside that may be a paste made of mung beans or even a root vegetable like dasheen. As can be expected buchi is chewy, compared to Benne balls which is hard and crunchy.
